Interesting poll on the Sydney Morning Herald
"Is Sachin Tendulkar the greatest batsman ever?"
Yes- 84%
No- 16%
Interesting, considering the usual demographic the SMH is read by.

A similar poll also showed 80 % voting the CWG as a success. One could infer that the average reader is fair and makes his own mind up or that the Indian IT geeks have hacked into the SMH website.

Bullshine!
He's the best postwar batsman - I'll give you that. But better than Hobbs or Bradman? How the farq are you supposed to measure that?

IMO comparing players from different eras is a waste of time and amounts to nothing more than intellectual m*****bation. This kind unfortunately does not have a happy ending.

When the difference in average is over 40 there is no debate.

Re: Interesting poll on the Sydney Morning Herald
How do you define greatness? Averages? Superior ability in tight situations? Opposition?
I'd prefer to judge players by eras. But how do you define eras?
As regards to the SMH poll I'm in the camp that says it's been spammed.

Perthnow ran a poll last year on 'should Worsfold be sacked'?
It was running at about 55% "Yes" until Dockerland advertised the poll and the fact that multiple voting was allowable to its members ....the End result was about a 95% support for retaining Worsfold

So are you saying Dorker supporters think Tendy is the best batsman ever?
